Wide Valley Fire

Fight fires with today’s technology

Our firefighting experience offers a unique opportunity to educate and provide new fire extinguishing technology to Alberta, strengthening the health and safety of our firefighters and environment.

Our Story

After working with structural and wildland fires firsthand, we ventured to learn more about new encapsulator technology and discovered the relative unfamiliarity of its benefits. We sought to become a distributor for this product locally to help improve the life and safety of firefighters.

Our mission is to get more encapsulator agents and fire suppression systems in place for municipal fire departments and have them become an integral part of Alberta’s emergency and environmental response plan.

“F-500 EA is listed on the National Contingency Plan Product Schedule of the US Environmental Protection Agency as a surface washing agent. ”

Environmentally Friendly

While toxic chemicals found in foam agents continue to contaminate our soil and water, poisoning wildlife, F-500 EA is 100% fluorine free, 100% biodegradable, and non-toxic. Listed by the EPA as a “surface washing agent”, once a spill has been encapsulated it can be cleaned up easily as a nonflammable material or allowed to evaporate as local regulations permit. Environment Canada reported that F-500 was only the second chemical substance to be approved according to the guidelines in CEPA in 1999.

The fast-acting nature of encapsulator technology significantly reduces damage and contamination of our environment while being noncorrosive, nontoxic, and biodegradable.

Improve the health and safety of Emergency Services Personnel

With advancing changes, we are faced with more hazardous materials every day.

F-500 EA:

  • Extinguishes three-dimensional fires
  • Reduces smoke, soot, and cancer-causing toxins
  • Lowers temperature and eliminates steam
  • Increases visibility so firefighters can better locate victims and see potential dangers

In addition to directly benefiting firefighter health, chemical encapsulation provides practical application value when dealing with confined spaces and hazard mitigation.

Remove the guesswork out of any emergency

A powerful preventative measure to have in place, F-500 EA can save you both time and money. When used in place of a foam, F-500 EA can negate flammable spills and suppress multiple class fires:
Type of FireFire Suppression Agent Required
Class AF-500 Encapsulator AgentClass A Foam
Class B – GasolineAFFFF Foam
Class B – EthanolAR-AFFF Foam
Class C*Powder; CO2; not foam
Class DPowder; not foam
*Class C fires require both training and SOP’s. F-500 EA has been tested and approved only for transformer fires energized to 345 KV, streaming from 125 feet and lithium-ion hybrid and electric car fires.

Testing shows that a 1% solution of F-500 EA can reduce the amount of water needed to extinguish a fire by 60%.

Demos and Training

F-500 EA differs from mechanical foam-based fire suppression systems; it operates on a chemical molecular level and relies on a unique but simple process to eliminate fire hazards.

Wide Valley Fire can provide your employees or firefighters with on-site demos and training in the safe application of F-500 to extinguish car fires, pallet fires, fuel props, and tires.
